For the last couple of weeks I've been paying good heed to this quote by Mokokoma Mokhonoana. Whilst I love my job passionately, everyone needs a break to recharge their batteries and spending time with family and friends is a great way to do just that :)
Our holiday was quite eventful as you'll see from the pictures on our Facebook page, but despite the bumpy start we ended up having a lovely time :)
Here's a compilation of some of the competition runs we did between Martin and I whilst we were away :)
Spending quality time away with our dogs competing isn't everyone's idea of a break, but I know that lots of my readers will understand why holiday time has to involve ALL of the family. And I was really pleased to fit in some training alongside the competition during the second week of our holiday in Ipswich with the energetic and enthusiastic Lauren Langman from Devon Dogs.
It takes quite a bit of planning to go on holiday with the number of dogs we own! And with the British weather being what it is, here's a snippet of the list that I made for all their bits and pieces before we left:
Dog food bowls
Dog food (challenging when feeding raw to 9 dogs!)
Big water bowl/ bucket
Dog chews/ antlers/ nylabones etc.
Top up water container in van
Harnesses for puppies
Having rested my overactive brain and imagination for two weeks has been just what I needed, though it seems to have woken up with even more vigour and va va voom than before! With September just around the corner I have quite a lot of ideas ticking over - more of that in future blog posts ;)
First on the list is planning the autumn/ winter training for my dogs and those competition dogs that the team and I teach. But that starts with some good goal setting sessions to ascertain where I should be devoting my time and energy. I have some ideas to help you focus your own training plans coming up soon :)
